Tooth Extraction with Ridge Preservation

Preparing for dental implants often includes tooth extraction due to abscess, decay, gum disease, or injury. But tooth loss leads to significant loss of the underlying bone - the alveolar ridge that surrounds the roots of the teeth. Did you know that within six months of a tooth extraction, up to 40% of the ridge is resorbed? And that within a year, 50% of the bone is resorbed if no bone is placed in the tooth socket? This makes ridge preservation a critical part of your implant treatment.
